María Elena Delgado

María Elena Delgado, Price Scholarship Director. Originally from the Silicon Valley (Santa Clara Valley) she moved to San Diego in 1998. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and was a Regents Scholar. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, San Jose and a Lifetime Teaching Credential with a Bilingual emphasis and has taught from preschool through Adult Education. She also has a Masters in Educational Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services, a Certificate in Marketing and E-Commerce, a Certificate in Executive Development from UC Berkeley, a Certificate in Computer Education from Stanford University, a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, and she is the CEO of an Internet software company.
María Elena has worked as an Educator in the areas of Bilingual education, Migrant Education, Family Literacy, and Academic Excellence and has been the Director of a Family Resource Center, a Juvenile Crime Prevention Program, Child Care Services, and a Technical Assistance Consultant for the California Department of Education. She also has been a Parent Advocate, Counselor, Puente Mentor, a Volunteer Medical Services Trip Coordinator to Ecuador and Peru for INTERPLAST, Inc., a published writer, an actor, a community organizer, and dancer. María Elena has worked with diverse ethnic populations and age groups, city and county government agencies, community groups, and theatre/arts organizations.
