Our Support Counselor

Leslie Easton

Our support counlser, Leslie Easton.

Leslie was born in Georgia and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent most of her summers in Guadalajara, Mexico where her mother's family is from. She moved to San Diego on her own in 1984 to pursue her education, finishing up her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biological Sciences at UCSD. Leslie supported herself throughout college working with adolescent populations who were living in residential treatment centers and group homes. She also volunteered several nights a week at the SDYCS Storefront, a runaway shelter for teens in Downtown San Diego.

Leslie got married to her high school sweetheart in 1989 and eventually attended the graduate program in Research Psychology at SDSU. She continued to work in the mental health field and particularly enjoyed working one-on-one with adolescents and young adults.

For this reason, in 1999 Leslie returned to school at SDSU to obtain a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work and As part of her degree fulfillment she interned at San Diego City College. Leslie loved the opportunities the campus offered and enjoyed the wide range of diverse populations and backgrounds that its students comprise. Upon her graduation in 2001 she was offered the opportunity to develop and run a Support Program with the prestigious Price Scholarship Program at City College.  She earned her LCSW license in 2005 and also works part-time supervising mental health interns at City College.

Leslie and her husband, a musician and composer, have a beautiful daughter, Sofia Elena and a cat named Jazzpurr! Leslie believes the students who are selected as Price Scholars are quite special and continues to strive to make her program as supportive and educational as possible.

Leslie meets with students at least once a semester and offers support and training in the areas of stress management, time management, test-taking anxiety as well as personal growth & development. She loves the work she gets to do with the Price Scholarship Program’s students and staff and looks forward to being involved with them for many more years.
